As part of its vacationer magnetism mandate @The Drakens Estate is nestled in the famous Valley of the Olifants, situated in the bigger UNESCO’s Kruger To Canyons Biosphere Region, bordering Mpumalanga Province on the famous scenic Panorama Route.
This is a region well known for its infinite biodiversity and a haven for abundant wildlife.
The property is at the foot of the majestic Drakensberg Mountains, and on the bank of the Olifants River.
The Estate is less than 36 kms from the East Gate Airport in Hoedspruit, offering convenience of daily flights to Johannesburg and Cape Town.
@The Drakens opened its doors for business as River Lodge in 2006 to offer a variety of tourism and hospitality services complimented by the many facilities the area boasts of. It was in the year 2022 that we undertook extensive renovations to bring new life to the estate. As a result of these extensive renovations, the property ceased to be River Lodge, and its place, @The
Drakens was born.
@The Drakens brand is inspired by the majestic Drakensberg Mountain that
serves as our “blue curtain’.
The estate now has the following:
• a working farm, specialising in cultivation and processing of Superfood crops ie. Moringa, Spekboom, and Dragon Fruit;
• @The Drakens Lodge;
• @The Drakens Restaurant;
• @The Drakens Coffee Shop & Gift Shop; and
• @The Drakens Craft Beers & Craft Gins. With all these amenities and facilities, the place is really ideal for rest and relaxation.

Surrounded by the neighbouring ever-green citrus farms, the Olifants River, and the majestic Drankensberg Mountains, @The Drakens estate boast beautiful big trees, bird life, manicured gardens and magnificent views. This location makes our lodge a perfect setting for: holidays; conferences, weddings, getaways and much needed rest and relaxation.
Accommodation
On this farm, @The Drakens Lodge offers guests an opportunity to experience comfort and relaxation in the newly renovated villas and cottages. Enjoy a dip into one the various pools or enjoy privacy in a secluded splash pool in a villa. Walk around the farm to enjoy the early morning crispy fresh air:

• @The Drakens Lodge offers 3 villas each with 3 spacious bedrooms, lounges and patios.
Cottages
• @The Drakens Lodge offers 7 cottages each with 2 or 3 bedrooms, lounges and patios.
All units are equipped with DSTV and luxuries for comfort, including fully fledged kitchens. All units have private access and parking. All patios are overlooking the manicured gardens.
Wining & Dining
@The Drakens Restaurant is on a complex within the farm comprising the Restaurant with a variety of dining areas, Coffee & Gift Shop (Farm Stall), Tap Room for Craft Beers and Craft Gins. The Kings’ Deck at the restaurant offers magnificent 380 degrees views of the farm and the Drakensberg Mountain range. Our restaurant offers a fusion of delicious dishes; with some of the vegetables and herbs sourced from the @The Drakens Farm. We offer breakfasts, lunches and dinners.
Extensive range of beverages are on offer at the restaurant. From Farm To Table: Organically grown teas are also available.
Extensive range of meals that include pancakes, pizzas, burgers, stews, and many others are on offer.
Conference & Events
@The Drakens offers state of the art technology for conferences, business meetings, team building sessions, and strategy sessions. We have capacity to accommodate up to 200 delegates and can configure the rooms to each specific requirement. We have accommodation agreements with other lodges in the vicinity for overflow when we have large conferences and functions.
Our different conference venues offer different tastes, with a more corporate feel conference rooms as well as our Kgorong Boma where delegates can experience bush-style conference and meetings, with meals served in a traditional manner to compliment the bush ambience:
• 1 x Conference Hall accommodating up to 200 delegates
• 1 x Conference Room accommodating up to 65 delegates
• 1 x Boardroom accommodating up to 12 delegates
• 1 x Conference Room accommodating up to 20 delegates
• 2 x Meeting Rooms accommodating up to 6 delegates each
• 1 x Kgorong Boma accommodating up to 150 delegates
We also provide venues for functions of all occasions such as parties, weddings, etc.
