MK party leader Jacob Zuma.
Gloves off-MK party controversial leader Jacob Zuma who vowed to destroy the former ruling has snubbed his ANC secretary general Fikile Mbalula to discuss any possible coalition.
Mbalula failed to get hold of Zuma’s new political toy MK party which is refusing to talk to the ANC led by President Cyril Ramaphosa which failed to secure a majority in the 2024 general elections.
Reportedly, the MK party said it can only form a coalition with the ANC if Ramaphosa can step down. However, Mbalula made it clear that such demands must cease to exist.
“If you come to us with the demand that Ramaphosa must step down as president, that is not going to happen. We are not going to engage with political parties based on who they want, who they don’t want. We have many reservations about the MK party but we will talk to them,” Mbalula said.
ANC spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri confirmed that the ANC had started coalition discussions with several other parties, including the EFF, PA, DA and NFP.
“We can indicate that we have made approaches to the MK party and we are awaiting the response. We had to do it as a matter of principle so that no one is excluded or left behind,” Bhengu-Motsiri said.
