Truth. Fearless. Unfiltered.
As the floodwaters recede in Limpopo and Mpumalanga, the true extent of the devastation is becoming clear. Lives lost, families displaced, homes destroyed, and communities shattered.
In these darkest of hours, a beacon of hope emerged – President Cyril Ramaphosa, a leader who embodies the spirit of compassion, resilience, and determination.
Ramaphosa's visit to the flood-ravaged areas was more than just a symbolic gesture; it was a testament to his unwavering commitment to the people of South Africa.
While opposition parties were nowhere to be seen, Ramaphosa was there, offering comfort, support, and a listening ear. His presence was a reminder that even in the face of unimaginable tragedy, there is still hope.
As Nelson Mandela once said, "The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." Ramaphosa's leadership in these trying times is a shining example of this philosophy.
He has faced numerous challenges since assuming office, from the COVID-19 pandemic to the State Capture report, the July 2021 unrest, and now, the devastating floods.
The July unrest, sparked by the imprisonment of former President Jacob Zuma, was a well-orchestrated attack on the country's democracy, exploiting socio-economic challenges like poverty, unemployment, and inequality. The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) investigation revealed systemic conditions contributing to the violence, including post-COVID-19 economic recovery, lawlessness, and discrimination.
Robert Sobukwe, a prominent figure in South Africa's anti-apartheid movement, once said, "I wish to make it clear again that we are anti-nobody. We are pro-Africa. We breathe, we dream, we live Africa because Africa and humanity are inseparable". Ramaphosa's leadership echoes these words, as he stands firm against bullying and genocide, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to justice and human rights.
Ramaphosa's leadership is a testament to his ability to navigate complex challenges. He has bulletproofed the country against external pressures, standing up to bullies like former US President Donald Trump during the G20 summit. He has also taken a strong stance against the genocide of Palestinians by Israel, taking the matter to the International Court.
As we salute President Ramaphosa for his outstanding leadership, we are reminded of the words of Mandela: "A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination." Ramaphosa's leadership is a testament to this truth. He is a leader who has consistently put the people of South Africa first, working tirelessly to address the country's challenges.
In the face of adversity, Ramaphosa has shown remarkable resilience and determination. He is a true leader, and his legacy will be remembered for generations to come. As Sobukwe said, "The wheel of progress revolves relentlessly and all the nations of the world take their turn at the field-glass of human destiny. Africa will not retreat! Africa will not compromise! Africa will not relent! Africa will not equivocate! And she will be heard!"
Steve Biko's words, "The most powerful weapon in the hands of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed," resonate deeply in these times. Ramaphosa's leadership is a powerful counter to the forces of despair and hopelessness, inspiring a nation to come together and rebuild.
We thank President Ramaphosa for his outstanding leadership and reaffirm our commitment to building a better South Africa, together.
