Elias “Ace” Magashule’s ambition of ousting his political rival buffalo soldier President Cyril Ramaphosa during this month’s election failed ceaselessly.
This follows after political parties without registration have been unsuccessful in their attempt to postpone this month’s elections.
Friday’s court decision concluded that the parties wouldn’t receive a postponement to be encompassed on the ballot.
The African Congress for Transformation led by the embattled former ANC secretary general Magashule, the Labour Party, and the Afrikan Alliance of Social Democrats asked intervention of the Constitutional Court to force the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) to review its deadline for submissions from newly registered parties.
Reportedly the three parties emphasised that the IEC’s online submission portal experienced technical issues, deterring acquiescence with the Electoral Act.
The IEC emphasised that delaying the elections would cost the country about R600 million for the country.
