Mosiuoa "Terror" Lekota, the fearless anti-apartheid activist, politician, and co-founder of the Congress of the People (Cope), has passed away at the age of 77, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering dedication to the fight for freedom and democracy.

Lekota's life was a testament to his unshakeable commitment to justice, equality, and human rights. His bravery in the face of oppression, evident in his 7-year imprisonment on Robben Island for treason, earned him the respect and admiration of his peers and the nation.

As a key figure in the United Democratic Front (UDF) and later the African National Congress (ANC), Lekota played a pivotal role in shaping South Africa's transition to democracy. His leadership and vision helped pave the way for the country's first democratic elections in 1994.
