In a dramatic and chaotic Africa Cup of Nations final, Senegal emerged victorious, beating host Morocco 1-0 in extra time. However, the win was overshadowed by controversy as Senegal's players walked off the pitch in protest over a late penalty award to Morocco.

The penalty, awarded after a VAR review, was taken by Brahim Díaz, who attempted a Panenka-style kick but was saved by Senegal's goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy. Senegal went on to win the game with a goal from Pape Gueye in the 94th minute.

Morocco's football federation has announced plans to pursue legal action, claiming the walk-off disrupted the game and affected the outcome. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has condemned Senegal's actions, describing them as "unacceptable" and "inappropriate".

Díaz, who missed the penalty, apologized for his mistake, saying his "soul hurts". Morocco's coach, Walid Regragui, criticized Senegal's coach, Pape Thiaw, for leading the walk-off, saying it was "shameful" and didn't honor Africa.
