The ANC's Peter Mokaba Region Teeters on the Brink: Branches Demand Its Dissolution and Removal of Leadership.
Over 40 ANC branches in the Peter Mokaba region in Limpopo have taken a stand against the alleged irregularities surrounding the upcoming regional conference. The branches this week marched to the ANC's provincial headquarters, Frans Mohlala House, to demand intervention and action from the provincial leadership.
The branch members accuse the Peter Mokaba Regional Task Team, led by its Convenor, John Mpe, of tempering with the nomination of delegates, scanning of fictitious IDs, and running parallel branch packages. These allegations have sparked outrage among the ANC members, who are demanding that the Task Team be held accountable for their actions.
The Peter Mokaba region has a total of 103 branches, but 49 of them are still in dispute. This means that the regional conference will not be able to proceed as planned, as the region has not reached the 70% threshold required for the conference to sit.
The ANC members are calling for provincial intervention to address the issues surrounding the conference. They want the Provincial leadership to investigate the allegations of irregularities and take decisive action against those responsible.
The branch members are also demanding the removal of the ANC Peter Mokaba Regional Task Team. They accuse the Task Team of failing to uphold the values and principles of the ANC and of prioritizing their own interests over the interests of the party.
Mpe has been accused of destroying the ANC in the Peter Mokaba Region due to his power-drunk and power-mongering tendencies. His actions have been described as forcing himself to lead the region by force and using crooked tendencies, including the creation of fake branches.
Supporters of Mamedupi Teffo, the ANC Women League's Provincial Chairperson and Capricorn District Executive Mayor, who is contesting for the position of Peter Mokaba Region Chairperson, have expressed their discontentment with the Peter Mokaba Region Task Team. They accuse the Task Team of allowing parallel dubious fake branches to qualify in order to retain power and marginalize Teffo's supporters.
The ANC members are determined to ensure that the party's values and principles are upheld. They are willing to take a stand against any actions that they believe are contrary to the interests of the party.
"We will not stand idly by while our party is being destroyed by the actions of a few individuals," said one of the ANC members. "We demand that the Provincial leadership takes action to address these issues and ensures that the party's values and principles are upheld."
The march to Frans Mohlala House is a clear indication of the depth of feeling among the ANC members in the Peter Mokaba region. The allegations of irregularities surrounding the conference have sparked outrage among the members, who are demanding action from the Provincial leadership. The ANC's Provincial leadership needs to take decisive action to address these issues and ensure that the party's values and principles are upheld.
