Limpopo Health MEC Dieketseng Mashego is sending a clear message to hospital management and staff: respect patients, respect yourselves, and act professionally.
Her recent visits to hospitals and clinics across the province demonstrate her commitment to improving service delivery, especially during the busy festive season and beyond.
Speaking at Pietersburg Provincial Hospital, Mashego emphasized the importance of professionalism, respect, and compassion in healthcare. "I will not tolerate unprofessionalism," she warned, urging senior management to be available 24/7 and share their personal contacts. "Love your work and put patients first," she said, setting a high standard for healthcare workers.
Mashego's approach has earned her widespread admiration, with stakeholders praising her commitment to improving healthcare services. The Treatment Action Campaign (TAC) and the Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa support her efforts, emphasizing the need for adequate staffing and resources.
"I've never seen an MEC as dedicated as Mashego," said Thandiwe Nkosi, a nurse at Pietersburg Provincial Hospital. "She's always on the ground, addressing issues and listening to our concerns. She's a breath of fresh air."
