For years, the dust and mud of Ward 14 in Region 2 told a story of broken promises. A critical roads and stormwater project, terminated by the previous administration, left residents navigating unsafe streets and bracing for seasonal flooding. That narrative is now being rewritten.
City of Tshwane MMC for Roads and Transport, Cllr Tlangi Mogale, returned to Ward 14 this week to officially relaunch the project, turning commitment into action alongside the community, contractors, and the City of Tshwane technical team.
The relaunch is more than a ceremonial moment. It’s the restart of a comprehensive infrastructure upgrade designed to restore dignity through quality service delivery. The scope includes 3.2km of internal roads being upgraded from gravel to asphalt, 1.36km of stormwater pipes to prevent flooding, new sidewalks, kerbs, manholes, speed humps, and traffic signage.
Work is already underway on site, with trenches dug and pipes laid to reshape the area’s drainage and road network.
“No area will be left unattended as we continue working towards safer roads, improved infrastructure, and sustainable development for all residents,” Mogale said during the event. “This marks a renewed commitment to service delivery, dignity, and restoring hope in our communities.”
The relaunch signals a clear shift toward delivery-focused governance in Tshwane. By reviving a project abandoned by the previous administration, Mogale is demonstrating that the city’s current leadership is prioritizing tangible results over empty announcements. For residents of Ward 14, it means safer routes to school, better access for emergency services, and protection for homes during heavy rains.
Working together under the #Bastrata banner, the City of Tshwane, contractors, and the community are proving that when government listens and acts, progress follows.
