Controversial businessman Brown Mogotsi has dropped a bombshell at the Madlanga commission, alleging that KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi and Zulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini were recruited by the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Mogotsi, the alleged middleman between suspended police minister Senzo Mchunu and Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala, made the stunning claims during his testimony at the commission.
Mogotsi, a former Umkhonto we Sizwe member with a focus on counterintelligence, said he obtained information from a source that Mkhwanazi and Misuzulu were working for the CIA.
He alleged that Mkhwanazi had intervened on the instructions of the CIA to halt investigations into cases involving the royal household, including the alleged intimidation, harassment, and attempted murder of members associated with Prince Simakade Zulu.
The allegations have sent shockwaves through the commission, with Mogotsi's claims sparking intense interest and debate. However, it's worth noting that Mogotsi's source did not provide any supporting evidence for the allegations.
Mogotsi's testimony has also raised questions about his own credibility, given his involvement in various controversies and his close relationship with suspended police minister Senzo Mchunu.
Earlier this month, Mogotsi was allegedly involved in a shooting incident in Vosloorus, and last month, police raided his business premises in Mahikeng as part of an ongoing investigation.
