Polokwane, South Africa - In a stirring display of civic pride, the Executive Mayor of Polokwane Municipality, Cllr Makoro John Mpe, bid farewell to two of the city's finest karate athletes as they prepare to represent South Africa on the international stage.
Sensei Peter Malatji, a dedicated municipal employee, and Sensei Thomas Sekhale, a distinguished resident of Polokwane, are set to compete in an prestigious international karate tournament in Japan.
Addressing the send-off ceremony, Mayor Mpe reaffirmed the municipality's commitment to nurturing talent across all sporting codes, particularly those that promote youth development and empowerment. "Karate has the strength to address many societal issues, as it instills discipline," Mayor Mpe said. "We stand behind you, Sensei Malatji and Sensei Sekhale, and wish you a victorious and inspiring performance on the global stage."
