Truth. Fearless. Unfiltered.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has put Donald Trump's Gaza Board of Peace on ice, saying he's considering the invitation but hasn't agreed to join.

This move contradicts Trump's claim that Putin had already signed up. Putin's response came during a video call with Russia's Security Council, where he thanked Trump for the invite and emphasized Russia's support for international stability.

Putin suggested the US use frozen Russian assets to cover the $1 billion membership fee for countries joining the Board of Peace, citing Russia's "special relations" with the Palestinian people. He also proposed using the remaining assets for reconstruction in Ukraine after a peace deal.

The Kremlin's cautious approach reflects Russia's desire to maintain its influence in the Middle East while avoiding Western pressure. Putin's meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will likely discuss the Board's future.

The US and Europe have frozen around $300 billion in Russian assets, sparking debate on whether to confiscate them to support Ukraine's reconstruction. The G7 has agreed to use interest from these assets to back loans for Ukraine, but some countries, like the UK, are hesitant to join Trump's Board of Peace due to concerns about Putin's involvement.

Russia might agree to use some frozen assets for Ukraine's reconstruction, but insists on controlling part of the funds for territories it occupies. This proposal has sparked controversy, with some seeing it as a pragmatic step towards peace, while others worry it undermines accountability for Russia's aggression.

The UK has delayed joining Trump's Board of Peace, citing concerns about Putin's role and treaty risks. Other countries, like China and France, have also expressed skepticism. The Board's future hangs in the balance, with many awaiting clarity on its role and effectiveness.
