Mary de Haas, a retired senior lecture.

In a scene straight out of a satirical comedy, Mary de Haas, a retired senior lecturer, took center stage at the parliamentary ad hoc committee, claiming to have insider information on the disbandment of the political killings task team. But, as it turns out, she's not even a professor at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), where she's been touting an honorary research fellow title.
UKZN has distanced itself from De Haas, stating she's not an employee and hasn't been since 2002. The institution also wouldn't comment on the evidence she presented, citing it's not responsible for her independent research.
De Haas's testimony was a masterclass in controversy, refusing to name sources and rolling her eyes at committee members. The MPs were not amused, accusing her of basing her evidence on hearsay.
This bizarre episode has left many wondering: what's next? Will De Haas reveal her sources, or will she become the star of a new South African docu-drama? One thing's for sure - this story's got more twists than a Nollywood plot.
As we say in South Africa, "Eish, this country's got more drama than a telenovela!" Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story [1].
